The "colonial" helmet she set for a safari in Nairobi National Park provided the pretext. The first visit to Kenya of the First Lady of the United States without her husband provoked the indignation of many Internet users. Once again, it is his choice of clothing that has attracted the wrath of some Internet users.
Melania Trump went to Nairobi National Park wearing a white shirt, beige riding pants and a salacot, in other words a "colonial helmet", a symbol of European oppression. The article published by The New York Times served as a trigger for the wave of criticism. In his publication, the author reviews other bad choices that the President's wife has previously made.
Some netizens did not appreciate her helmet and saw an expression of racism against Africans, despite her encounters with orphans with whom she danced and her trip to the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust for Wildlife (DSWT where she fed a baby elephant.

She's not there to have fun, it's not a vacation trip. She's supposed to be there for "diplomatic" and "humanitarian" reasons. Like all Trump, she has no idea what these really mean.

Anyone remember when @MichelleObama wore short sleeves when visiting the queen? There was a huge uproar. But this outfit, with its racist / oppressive history, is way worse!

Does anyone remember that Michelle Obama wore short sleeves during her visit to the Queen? It made a lot of noise. But this outfit, with its racist / oppressive story, is much worse!

However, other Internet users are calling for common sense and do not see anything annoying in the outfit of Melania Trump calling it an ordinary outfit for a safari:

People! Get over it! my god the woman can not even wear the right clothes for you. It's a cliche safari outfit for goodness sake not a colonial lol I guess if she thing to skirt it would have been Channeling William Wallace?

People! Move on! God, this woman can not even put the right clothes on you. It's an ordinary safari outfit, for God's sake, not a colonial outfit.

As a Prof. of African history, why do not you note the difference between the helmets of the colonial forces vs safari helmet (she is wearing)? The one probably evolved from the other, but so did sports caps from Kepis. Does that mean I can not wear a ballcap below the Mason Dixon? pic.twitter.com/2bX7haYxk2

As a professor of African history, why do not you notice the difference between the helmets of the colonial forces and the safari helmet (which she wears)? One is probably inspired by the other, but Kepis sports caps too. Does that mean I can not wear a cap under Mason Dixon's line?
